Snow Stake Install Tool Built for Snow Plow Professionals
The Discount Snow Stakes Install Tool is the driveway marker installation tool commercial snow removal contractors, municipalities, and homeowners use to set reflective snow stakes in frozen or hard-packed ground in seconds. Made in the USA from impact-tested, powder-coated steel, it works two ways: step on the kick plate to punch a pilot hole with the 6" spike, then flip it over and use the hollow slide-hammer end to drive the snow stake as deep as you need. No mallet, no bent fiberglass, no kneeling in the snow.
Why Plow Pros Keep One on Every Truck
- Punches frozen ground. The 6" hardened steel spike goes where hands and rubber mallets can't. Set stakes after the first freeze, re-set markers mid-season, and mark new accounts in January.
- Steel kick plate. Put your boot on the welded foot plate and let your body weight do the work. One step makes a clean pilot hole for 1/4" and 5/16" fiberglass driveway markers.
- Built-in slide hammer. Flip the tool, drop the hollow end over the top of the stake, and pump it to seat the marker. The tool takes the impact, so the stake, cap, and reflective band stay intact.
- Impact-tested, powder-coated steel. Rust-resistant finish shrugs off salt, slush, and seasons of truck-bed abuse.
- Stand-up installation. Full-height handle means no bending or kneeling. Crews install faster and finish the route with less back strain.
- Made in the USA. Fabricated in the United States and sold direct by Discount Snow Stakes.
- Year-round use. Use it for garden stakes, lot markers, sprinkler-head flags, and survey markers in summer.

How to Install Snow Stakes with the Install Tool
- Mark your line. Space stakes every 8 to 10 feet along the driveway or lot edge, plus every corner, hydrant, drain, and obstacle.
- Punch the hole. Set the spike where the stake goes, step on the kick plate, and push through frozen or hard-packed ground.
- Flip and drive. Drop the stake in the pilot hole, flip the tool, slide the hollow end over the stake, and pump it down until the marker is seated 8 to 12 inches deep.
- Face the reflector. Turn the reflective band toward the direction the plow approaches and move to the next stake.
Where to Use It
- Residential driveways, walkways, and lawn edges
- Commercial parking lots, curbs, islands, and loading docks
- Fire hydrants, drains, culverts, mailboxes, and septic covers
- Snow plow routes, salt bins, and staging areas
- Property lines, utility markers, and landscape beds
Snow Stake Install Tool FAQ
Does it work in frozen ground?
Yes. That is what it is for. The 6" steel spike and kick plate let you punch a pilot hole after the ground has frozen, so you can stake late accounts and replace markers all winter.
Which snow stakes does it fit?
It works with all Discount Snow Stakes fiberglass snow stakes and driveway markers, including the 1/4" Flex Pro and Tape/No Cap stakes and the 5/16" PRO Line in 3 ft, 4 ft, 5 ft, 6 ft, and 8 ft lengths.
Will it damage the stake or the reflective tape?
No. The hollow slide-hammer end cups the top of the stake and spreads the impact, so you are not hitting the cap or the reflective band with a mallet.
Do I still need a mallet or drill?
No. The install tool replaces the mallet and the Shark Tooth drill bit for most ground conditions. For rock-hard or rocky ground, some crews keep both on the truck.
How many do I need?
One per crew or truck. Contractors running multiple trucks save 25% at 5 or more.
