Ice Master PRO 5000 — Commercial Walk-Behind Salt Spreader, 100 lb Capacity
The push salt spreader built for crews that salt every night of the season. A one-piece welded steel frame, upgraded stainless steel gear drive, 1.5 cu ft poly hopper and 13" pneumatic tires, with a rain cover and hopper screen in the box. Ships free in the USA.
Why Snow & Ice Pros Choose the Ice Master PRO 5000
A walk-behind salt spreader lives a hard life: wet salt, sub-zero nights, curbs, truck tailgates and a different operator every shift. The Ice Master PRO 5000 is the premium model in the Ice Master line and the one we built for exactly that. We reinforced the gear and operation system, moved to heavy-duty stainless steel gears, and hung everything on a one-piece, fully welded steel frame so there are no bolted joints to work loose halfway through February.
Material control is where cheap spreaders fall apart. The PRO 5000 uses a large flow regulator with solid control linkage — a rigid link instead of a cable, so nothing sticks, stretches or freezes — and a 4-flap adjustable poly deflector that lets you throw a full 12 ft swath across a parking lot, then close it down to keep salt on a sidewalk and off the grass, the shrubs or the customer’s car. A fixed rear deflector keeps it off your boots. The expanded metal hopper screen breaks up clumped salt before it reaches the impeller, and the improved restrictor plate holds its setting load after load.

Where the PRO 5000 Earns Its Keep
How to Get the Most Out of a Walk-Behind Salt Spreader
Salt Spreader FAQ
What’s the difference between the Ice Master PRO 5000 and the 3000?
The 5000 is the upgraded, premium model: a reinforced gear and operation system with heavy-duty stainless steel gears and an improved restrictor plate, designed for heavy commercial use. If you salt a few residential walks a season, the 3000 is fine; if you run routes, get the 5000.
Can I use it for sand, ice melt or fertilizer?
Yes. It’s a broadcast spreader for any free-flowing material — rock salt, calcium or magnesium chloride ice melt, sand, and in the off-season fertilizer or seed. Adjust the flow regulator for each material.
How wide does it spread?
Up to roughly 12 ft with the deflector flaps open and the regulator up, and as narrow as a sidewalk with the flaps closed. Walking speed and material size affect the pattern, so make a test pass in an open area first.
Will the tires handle snow and curbs?
The 13" pneumatic tires roll over packed snow, gravel and curb cuts far better than small solid wheels, and they lift easily into a pickup bed or trailer between stops.
Is the rain cover really included?
Yes — a durable, double-stitched plastic cover and the expanded metal hopper screen ship in the box with every PRO 5000. Each unit is individually boxed.
How fast does it ship, and what about Canada?
US orders ship free, same or next business day. Free shipping does not apply to Canada — Canadian customers, call (866) 938-0922 and we’ll quote discounted freight.

The salt spreader is well built. I guess the next few years will determine how well it will last over time. Glad to see the parts list is included. The one disappointing thing was the shipping box. Box came severely damaged including large holes ripped into the box. There is no hand holes for easy lifting of the box by shippers. The rough treatment caused one screw and lock nut to be lost which i purchased locally. The box needs to be heavier cardboard with lifting holes.

Seems to be heavy duty. Comes partially assembled which is another convenience with this. I have spent more on salt spreaders from the huge name manufacturers and always have to put them completely together. The look and feel of this surpassed the previous 500 dollar spreader we purchased. It didnt last 2 months. I have a good feeling that this one will give us years of use.

After initial product sent to me was damaged the company was great to work with and sent me a replacement one hassle free. The best ice melt spreader I have owned so far. 4 stars because of the limited use it received this winter due lack of snow and ice so jury is out on longevity.
