Why the Sentry™ 85 Jobsite Is the Smart Buy for One Season or One Job

Not every fence needs to survive five winters. When you’re fencing off a winter work zone, marking a culvert or ditch until spring, lining a parade route or protecting a driveway for a single season, the Sentry™ 85 Jobsite gives you a genuine plastic snow fence — 48 inches tall, 100 feet long — at the lowest price in the Sentry™ family.

It’s a light-duty roll, and we’re upfront about that: the 85 Jobsite is engineered and priced for one season of service. What you still get is the same 1.8" × 1.8" oval Armortech™ mesh pattern used across the Sentry™ line, with UV and chemical stabilizers so it stands up to sun, salt and sub-zero cold through the winter. Wind passes through, slows down, and drops its snow in a controlled drift on the downwind side — not on your pavement. Want a fence you’ll reuse year after year? Step up to the 140 Pro HD or 195 Max below.

How to Install Snow Fence (4 Steps)

1Place it upwindSet the fence on the side the wind comes from, roughly 35× the fence height (about 140 ft) from the area you’re protecting, so the drift forms before it reaches your pavement or work zone.
2Drive your postsSteel T-posts, U-posts or wood stakes every 6–8 ft before the ground freezes. For a job site perimeter, follow your site plan and keep posts closer at corners and gates.
3Roll out & tensionUnroll along the post line, pull snug and fasten with zip ties or wire at the top, middle and bottom of every post. Leave a 4–6" gap at the ground so snow doesn’t bury the base.
4Cut to fit & take it downTrim with snips for corners or short runs. When the job wraps or the thaw comes, cut the ties, roll it up and you’re done — no wood slats to haul off.

Snow Fence FAQ

What does “single season” mean?

The 85 Jobsite is built and priced to deliver a full winter (or a full job) of service. Many customers in sheltered sites get more out of it, but if you want a fence you’ll roll out every winter for years, the 140 Pro HD and 195 Max are the better long-term value.

How does plastic snow fence actually stop drifts?

Snow fence doesn’t block wind — it slows it. As wind passes through the mesh it loses speed and drops the snow it’s carrying on the downwind side, building a controlled drift there instead of across your driveway, lot or road.

How far from my driveway should I put the fence?

A good rule of thumb is about 35 times the fence height upwind — roughly 140 ft for a 4 ft fence. On tighter lots, get as far upwind as your property allows; even a shorter setback dramatically reduces drifting.

Is it strong enough for a construction site?

Yes, as a visual barrier and perimeter marker. The high-visibility orange mesh is a standard job site safety fence. For heavy snow loads in open, high-wind areas, choose a heavier Sentry™ roll.

How many posts do I need for a 100 ft roll?

Plan on 13–17 posts at 6–8 ft spacing (fewer in sheltered areas, more in open fields). Posts, ties and fasteners are sold separately.

How fast will it ship?
