Why Snow & Ice Pros Choose the FrogWear HV 3-in-1 Parka

A plow operator's jacket gets wet from the outside at 2 a.m., sweaty from the inside at 6 a.m., and covered in salt by lunch. Most hi-vis winter coats pick one job and do it. The FrogWear® HV Three-in-One Parka (GLO-P3) splits the work in two: a waterproof, windproof outer shell handles the weather, and a zip-out 250 g/m² polyester fleece liner handles the warmth. Zip them together for sub-zero nights, run the shell alone when it's 38° and raining, or throw on the fleece by itself in the shop.

The shell is PU-coated 300D Oxford polyester with fully taped seams, so water doesn't find its way in at the stitching. A zipper and snap-closed storm flap blocks wind off the front, adjustable wrist cuffs seal over your gloves, and the black lower body and sleeve tips hide the road salt and slush that would stain a plain yellow coat by the second storm.

It's also built for how crews actually work. Mic tabs on both shoulders keep a radio where you can key it one-handed. A D-ring pass-through on the back of both the shell and liner lets you run a fall-protection harness without leaving the jacket open. Six outside pockets plus one inside swallow a phone, gloves, route sheets and a flashlight, and the liner adds three zippered pockets of its own. The concealed hood stows flat in the collar until you need it. Meets ANSI/ISEA 107-2020, Type R Class 3 (jacket).

How to Get the Most Out of a 3-in-1 Winter Work Jacket

1Dress for the forecastShell alone for wet, above-freezing days. Liner alone for the truck and the shop. Both zipped together once the temperature drops and the wind picks up.
2Rig your radio onceClip the speaker mic to the shoulder tab on your strong side and route the cord inside the storm flap. It stays put when you're climbing in and out of the cab all night.
3Keep the tape brightReflective tape only works when it's clean. Rinse salt spray off between storms and follow the sewn-in care label — cold wash, no bleach, no fabric softener, hang dry.
4Stow the hood, seal the cuffsTuck the hood into its collar pocket so it doesn't catch wind on the plow. Cinch the wrist cuffs over your gloves before you start shoveling.

Hi-Vis Winter Jacket FAQ

Is this jacket ANSI Class 3 rated?
Yes. The outer shell meets ANSI/ISEA 107-2020, Type R Class 3 — the highest visibility class, required for workers near traffic moving over 50 mph and in low-light conditions. The black fleece liner is not hi-vis on its own, so wear the shell whenever you need to be compliant.
Is it actually waterproof, or just water-resistant?
Waterproof. The shell is PU-coated 300D Oxford polyester and every seam is taped, so water can't wick through the stitching the way it does on a plain coated jacket. The snap storm flap over the zipper keeps wind-driven sleet off the front.
How warm is it?
The liner is 250 g/m² polyester fleece — a heavyweight fleece, roughly what you'd find in a dedicated fleece jacket. Zipped into the windproof shell it's built for all-night plowing. Because the pieces separate, you can dial the warmth down for a 40° rain instead of sweating through a one-piece insulated parka.
Can I wear the fleece liner by itself?
Yes. The liner is a full jacket in its own right — zipper front, lined sleeves, two lower zip pockets and a chest zip pocket, plus a D-ring opening on the back. Most crews wear it in the truck and around the shop.
What's the D-ring opening for?
It's a reinforced slot on the upper back that lets the D-ring of a fall-protection harness pass through, so you can wear the harness under the jacket and still clip in. Both the shell and the liner have one, so they line up when zipped together.
How does it fit? Should I size up?
It's a work fit, cut to take the fleece liner plus a hoodie underneath. Most people order their normal jacket size. If you're between sizes or plan to layer heavily, go up one. We stock M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL and 4XL — call us if you need a size you don't see.
How do I wash it without wrecking the reflective tape?
Follow the sewn-in care label. As a rule for hi-vis gear: close the zippers, wash cold on gentle, skip bleach and fabric softener, and hang dry — high heat is what breaks down reflective tape and PU coatings. Rinsing salt off between storms keeps the tape bright longer.
How is shipping handled?
Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address and what's in your cart — add the jacket to your cart to see the rate before you pay. Stocking up on snow stakes or salt spreader gear at the same time? Put it all in one order.
Stay seen. Stay warm. Stay on the route. Choose your size above and add the FrogWear® HV Three-in-One Parka to your cart — one jacket for every storm from the first salt run to the last spring slush.
