I was looking through PLOW magazine and an article/ad from Snow Dogg caught my eye. Lists the top 10 simple tips for off season snow plows storage. Some good points.

1. Don’t do a dump and drive. Store your snow plows on a pallet. Preferably indoors or cover the plow with a tarp. In other words, don’t put it out back in the mud!
2. Clean the snow plows! Before storing it, make sure you scrub it down and remove the salt, dirt, asphalt and whatever else it picked up over the long winter plow season. Power wash it and wax to keep it in great condition until next winter.
3. Protect the electrical connections. Apply dielectric grease to all the electrical connections to protect from corrosion.
4. Keep the parts together. Locate, clean and lubricate all the plow pins on the frame.
5. Cover em up. Place dust covers on all the connectors and store them securely.
6. Take care of the lights. Grease the light harness and headlight connections on both sides then apply a light coat of wax to the lenses of the snow plow
7. Grind the corrosion off that plow. Use a fine grit sandpaper to remove any corrosion from the connectors. The, grease each coil an pay attention to their order.
8. If it moves, grease it. Grease every pivot point on the snow plow including on the A Frame.
9. Don’t change the oil on the plow until next season. Start out the new season with fresh oil, rather than letting it sit all summer.
10. If it’s not stainless steel, touch it up. Keep the plow clean so it maintains it professional look and value.
