One of the most common questions we get asked is, “what size driveway markers should we use?” Two of the main factors to consider are price and functionality. If 5 foot snow stakes or 6 foot driveway markers are out of your budget, then go with the 4 ft snow stakes. Take a look at the video before you go to a snow stake company that sells 2 or 3 foot stakes for low pricing. The 4 foot stakes only really give you about 3 feet of visible stake. Do not be fooled! Read the listing of the product before you buy. Here is a quick rundown of what you can watch in the video.
8 Foot Driveway Markers are awesome! Easy to see, tons of visibility. You literally can not miss them. These stakes are basically for airport locations, high altitude areas and road drop offs. These markers are great, but pricey and unnecessary for standard commercial or residential snow plowing.
6 Foot Snow Stakes also offer tons of visible fiberglass surface. They also offer slightly more rigidity due to being less pliable than the 8 footers. You can install these a full foot into the ground and still have 5 feet of fiberglass surface. They can be a little expensive in high quantities.
5 Foot driveway markers are ideal in my opinion. Look at the video, it is surprising how small 4 foot stakes look and that they fall below the standard visibility line of any snow plow truck. 5 foot snow stakes are the sweet spot for price, and most importantly, functionality.
4 Foot Snow Stakes are the standard. This is what almost 70% of the entire snow removal population go with. Great stakes, very flexible and rigid. The only issue is, in the video, you can clearly see just how low the go. Anything below 4 foot driveway markers is not acceptable!
