As you can see, even wood snow stakes can be installed into frozen ground. In fairness, when we tested this out, the temperature was only 25 degrees. It had been that way for about a week and there were a couple of inches of snow on the ground. When the snow lands, most contractors wave the white flag and give up putting snow stakes onto their properties. With our more recent weather patterns, snow accumulation is melting faster and giving snow plow guys another opportunity at getting their stakes into the ground before another snow storm hits and covers the landscape.

The first thing you want to consider, is to not force the driveway marker installation process once the ground has hardened up. In most cases, you can find enough softer spots to install the amount of stakes needed. If you’re hitting patches that are simply too frozen, you will have to use the drill bit or snow stake install tool. Otherwise, you can literally install the snow stakes into frozen ground as you would normally.
