❄️How Far Apart Should I Install My Driveway Markers?
Seems simple. You receive your driveway markers, and head out to stake your properties. Even with a little common sense, the install process should be a breeze right? Then, you get a call from the property manager telling you it looks like a corn maze on his site. At least in this situation, your plow drivers know where the road ends. The other scenario, is not installing enough driveway markers and the plow trucks are clueless on where to stop plowing. So how far apart should I install my driveway markers?
The first thing you want to be sure of is that the drivers are somewhat familiar with the properties being staked. You don’t need to do a complete film study with each driver and each property NFL films style, but you want to make sure the drivers have a good idea of what the road layout is. Straight away areas and long stretches of road are pretty simple. 10 feet is a good distance to have between each driveway marker. This is for both commercial properties and residential snow plowing. “Less is more” is a good rule of thumb so the stakes are not so intrusive on the grounds and you don’t waste money over staking.
With curvatures in the land, the opposite is true. More is more! Curved islands, mulch beds etc can be challenging in heavy snow volume night time plowing. It is important to give the plow truck drivers every opportunity to be successful. At all curves or turns in the landscape, a stake should be installed. So rounded edges and change in direction should be every 2 to 5 feet.
Unfortunately, there is no silver bullet with exact distance between your driveway markers. The above suggestions are good ones to follow along with common sense. How far do you leave between your snow stakes?
